This Monday morning, a friend emailed me to point out the incredibly nifty Google Calendar integration the folks over at rememberthemilk had put together. It's slick, clean and easy to use. I was pretty impressed..so I started to dig into just what they had to do in order to get things going. Turns out that it's incredibly easy to build an integration with Google Calendar. An hour later, I had something that basically worked.
We're in the middle of Mission-Impossible-Funding season (That's when the customers come to us and say "We need a widget that does XYZ. The funding will self-destruct at the end of our fiscal year...in about 20 minutes. Can you deliver?)...so it took me until tonight to sneak in enough time go publish a first draft of the functionality.
You can now work with your Hiveminder todo list from within Google Calendar. Just click this button:
Oh. and one more thing. We recently added a history browsing feature to Hiveminder. Clicking on the "History" link in the Hiveminder menu bar will take you to a list of things that have happened in the past day. You can skip back as far as you want to see what you missed when you ditched work yesterday were at home sick. It seemed natural to include this in the Google Calendar view too. So, if you click on the Hiveminder icon for yesterday, you'll see what happened yesterday. Tuesday three weeks ago? No problem.
We know the display isn't so pretty yet, but it should be pretty functional. Is this functionality you could use? How could we make it better?
Jesse, for Hiveminder
PS There is absolutely no truth to the rumor that we implemented this feature just to be able to title a blog post "Keeping up with the Milkses"
This is a nice start it would be good if the actual deadlines appeared on my calendar (I know there is an iCal feed for this, but why install two connections to the same data?)
Also, on my computer (Linux, FF, 1024x768) the Todo list runs off the top of the screen, so I can't see it all.

I am in the traditional office setting where the we use Outlook (including its calendar) for everything. Are there any plans to integrate with Outlook? I know you probably have answered that question a million times already, but I am a relatively new user to your service.
Maybe I just need to go look at Google Calendar?

It's throwing an error at the moment - todo.pl is saying

and hiveminder.com complains at

Just happened moments ago - todo.pl still lets me view just fine, just doesn't let me mark things as done.

The blog really isn't the best place to report outages (though our monitoring systems had already picked up on it and things should be sorted out now).

Great idea, but (for me) the top of the pop-up box which appears when I click on the Hiveminder logo in my Google Calendar can't be seen/reached as it is under the tool bars of my browser window!
There is no slide bar on the right hand side of the pop-up box, so I cant get to the top of the top-up box to login!
Can you help with this?
Regards, Alan Buttifant.

This is a nice little extension. Works well on Windows.
But, as a couple of other people have noted, when using Firefox under Linux my to do list runs off the top of the screen and I can't see it. In fact, all I get is an empty square.

I really really dig this. A couple of recommendations: make the font a tad smaller, make the box a tad smaller. Otherwise, good to go.

I use ie and the RTM to do list works fine, while the Hiveminder looks like an empty box that goes up.
